YMCA WOk-The-talk

During the post Covid-19, we see lives being disrupted and many are still struggling to earn a living. Together with YMCA, we had served a total of more than 5,900 meals for 9 weeks for our beneficiaries under our care.

We would like to thank YMCA for extending this service to our beneficiaries residing in Jurong.

Free breakfast Scheme

Free Breakfast Scheme is a ground up effort first mooted by Ms Joyce Yu, a resident in Jurong Central. Joyce saw how Covid-19 is disrupting life and impacted on the livelihood of the less fortunate members in the community.

Together with her friends, Joyce reaches out to Loving Heart Multi-Service Centre (Jurong), proposing to offer the scheme to residents who will benefit from the effort. We worked quickly with our Grassroots partners (to identify and register recipients), get in touch with food stores operating out from the N4 Neighborhood Centre (opposite Jurong Green CC), and successfully rolled out our first sets of breakfast on 9 April 2020.

The Scheme has since served more than 3,200 packs of breakfast to residents in both Jurong Spring and Jurong Central, and will continue to support our community for the extended period of the circuit breaker.

delivery of food gift packs

In enabling families to stay home during the Circuit Breaker, with help from volunteers, our team organised an exercise to deliver 2-months’ worth of food gift packs (that includes fruits, eggs and household items) to our clients shortly after the announcement of circuit breaking measures. While making plan for the next distribution, we will continue to reach out to our clients and support new ones that are referred by our community partners.

Donation drive to support our food gift programme

Through our Food Gift Programme, more than 400 less privileged families receive the shown items in our monthly food gift pack, and we require constant supply of them.

We are grateful to our partner at the Active Ageing Hub located at Blk 493 Jurong West Street 41 for offering conveniency to recipients of Loving Heart's food gifts. As a result, we were able to cater to residents living further away from our Centre.

community leadership programme

In support of Jurong Central Constituency, Loving Heart hosted a learning and sharing session about Voluntary Welfare Organisations, the social service industry and the challenges as well as limitations we may face,

Students from Fuhua Secondary, Hua Yi Secondary, Hong Kah Secondary and Jurongville Secondary visited Loving Heart on 30 June 2018 as part of the community immersion segment under their Community Leadership Workshop.

Apart from sharing the programmes and services Loving Heart offers, students also got to under more about the less-privileged among us in our everyday lives. They also got to interact directly with our beneficiaries during the Free Tuition sessions. Through this programme, we hope that our future leaders could embody more compassion as role models in their individual institutions.

project hand-in-hand
